Why orthopaedics
Growing up, sport came first — competitive badminton, some cricket, and along with that, more than a few visits to the orthopaedic OPD. Sprains, niggles, the occasional fracture — the kind of things that come with playing seriously. Sitting on that side of the table, again and again, is what first pulled me toward orthopaedics.
By the time I got to my fellowships, arthroscopy stood out for the same reason. It's the kind of surgery sports injuries actually need, and it interested me on a technical level too — small incisions, a camera, and a very precise kind of problem-solving.
